Louisa, Piano
Louisa Peng (Liang-Yi Peng) is a solo/collaborative pianist, piano instructor, and coach who is currently based in Lafayette, LA. She has been actively performing in recitals, musical theaters, operas, and gigs as well as collaborating with other musicians. She is also enthusiastic about teaching piano for people of all ages and levels.
Louisa Peng holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music at University of Taipei (majored in piano; minored in violin) and a Master’s degree in Piano Performance at Illinois State University. As one of the two full scholarship recipients, Peng will continue to pursue another Master's degree in Collaborative Piano at University of Louisiana - Lafayette in Fall 2020.
In 2016, Louisa Peng moved to Bloomington-Normal, IL and continued her music journey in town and the neighborhood areas. During her time in Illinois, Peng has played and coached the operas “The Tender Land” by A. Copland, “The Light in Piazza” by C. Lucas, and “La boeheme” by G. Puccini. The musicals she has performed include “The Beauty and the Beast,” "Guys and Dolls," “Mama Mia,” and “How to Succeed in Business without really Trying.” Besides of the big music productions, Peng has also participated as a collaborative pianist/ piano accompanist in Wesley United Methodist Church’s youth choirs and children’s choirs, Peoria Children’s Choir, Princeville Presbyterian Church, Advent Lutheran Church's worship services and choirs, and the yearly string contests at Kingsley Junior High School.
Louisa Peng has been actively teaching since she was 18 years old. Over the past few years, she has taught undergraduate Group Piano classes as a teaching assistant at Illinois State University as well as private lessons at Champaign School of Music and Metcalf Elementary School. Peng will be teaching undergraduate Group Piano classes at University of Louisiana - Lafayette in Fall 2020.
