Jacob, Piano

Born in Lafayette, Jacob has been in music all his life.  Jacob is currently attending The University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL) for a degree in Piano Pedagogy.  As an alumnus of North Vermilion High School, Jacob was heavily involved in musical programs, playing for his school’s wind ensemble, jazz band, and drum line in the marching band.  Jacob also sang bass in his school’s top choir, “Small Vocal”.  Although piano is his main instrument, he loves to experiment with lots of other musical instruments.  Some of which include: Guitar, Bass Guitar, Violin, French Horn, Cajun Accordion, and Piano Accordion.

Jacob’s understanding of music theory and passion for original works lead him to music composition.  His most recent album released on iTunes, A New Life, features 11 of his original works.  His writing includes but is not limited to solo piano, duel piano, piano duets with other instruments, band, and orchestra.

“I think it’s great when you can tell a story through something you have written. But the best part of writing is seeing it come alive when other people play your music.  It gives you a different experience, because playing something you have written and listening to someone play something you have written lets you understand and appreciate your own music in a whole different way.”  -Jacob
