Alyssa’s love for music blossomed at a young age. She pursued this passion at UL Lafayette studying Piano Pedagogy and will be graduating with over twelve years of piano instruction experience. She is classically trained, but enjoys learning, performing, and accompanying in a variety of styles, including pop, jazz, and folk. As a versatile musician, Alyssa has also studied voice with professors at ULL and LSU as well as sung with the UL Chorale and Chamber Singers for four years. In the summer of 2015, she was given the opportunity to continue her education studying opera in its birthplace, Italy.
She has been involved in school and community theatre, including the roles of Maria in The Sound of Music, Miss Maudie in To Kill a Mockingbird, Julie in Some Enchanted Evening as well as roles in several UL Operas including An Evening of Gilbert and Sullivan and assistant stage managing for An Evening of Italian Opera Scenes. She was also a lead singer in the UL Bluegrass band, Vermilion Express, for several years.
Awards and accomplishments include: 2nd place in UL’s 2014 Frank Hanley piano competition, attendance in NATS vocal competition, and performing at the IBMA Wide Open Bluegrass Festival with renowned ETSU Pride band.
Currently, Alyssa is employed as a choir member at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. She also enjoys accompanying and performing locally. Her plans for the future include pursuing a M.F.A. in musical theatre.
